Álvaro Pérez Sánchez holds higher degrees in Composition and Conducting from the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Valencia (CSMV). He studied composition with Voro Garcia and Andrés Valero. In the field of conducting, he furthered his studies with Juan Pablo Hellín in orchestral conducting and Nadia Stoyanova in choral conducting. He is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Contemporary Music Creation at Musikene under the mentorship of Ramon Lazkano.
In 2025, he was invited to the composition class of the Académie Ravel, where he studied with Michael Jarrell and was awarded the Prix de composition de l’Académie Ravel for his work Sublime y oscuro. In 2026, he received the IV Premio de Composición Fundación SGAE Euskadi for La fragilitat de la incertesa, after having obtained an Honourable Mention in the previous edition.
His music has been featured at festivals such as Ensems, Circuito Musikagileak, Mostra Sonora, Ciclo Bernaola, Volumens and MEVArt. His works have also been performed by ensembles including London Sinfonietta, Ensemble Court-Circuit, Fukio Quartet Ensemble, Trio Feedback, Hava Duo and the Banda Simfònica Municipal de València. In 2026, he will premiere a new work at the Festival Ravel, published by the French music publisher Durand Salabert Eschig.
He has also attended courses and seminars with internationally renowned composers such as Chaya Czernowin, Michael Jarrell, Georg Friedrich Haas, Lucia Ronchetti, José Manuel López López, Georges Aperghis, Luís Naón, Clemens Gadenstätter, Joan Magrané, Leonardo Balada, Mauro Lanza, Martín Matalon and Stefan Prins, among others.
